The bell from the sunken cruise liner Costa Concordia has disappeared.

The Costa Concordia ran aground off the coast of Italy two months ago, killing at least 30 people.

Soon after it capsized, the bell was filmed still hanging in position, but now it is gone.

It is possible the bell, which is etched with the ship's name, dislodged itself.

But police suspect theft is involved and suspicion is falling on the search and rescue teams which have had constant access to the wreck.

Investigators suspect more than one person was involved as it would not have been an easy task lugging the heavy and gleaming bell from the ship's deck.
